The Population Foundation of India, an NGO, has called for policies that prioritize opportunity, rights, and dignity, especially for women, young people, and the elderly, in place of fear-based discussions about overpopulation or declining reproduction.
India’s population problems are about fairness, equity, and investing in human potential, the NGO said in a statement on Friday, July 11, 2025, World Population Day 2025.
India’s population story is not a crisis, it’s a crossroads,” stated Poonam Muttreja, the Executive Director of the Population Foundation of India, at an event commemorating the point.
‘Empowering young people to form the families they want in a fair and hopeful world’ is the global theme for World Population Day.
