A tempo traveler plunged into a deep chasm in the Alaknanda river valley in the Rudraprayag area of Uttarakhand on Thursday morning, June 26, 2025, leaving at least two persons dead, eight injured, and ten missing.

Rescue and relief crews have arrived at the location.

Two dead have been found by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel conducting the search and rescue efforts.

Red Cross Society rescue team member Satyendra Singh Bhandari told PTI that two dead had been found: one from the river close to Rudraprayag and the other close to the accident scene. According to him, ten persons went missing and seven people—including three women and two children—were hurt in the collision. The injured have been sent to the hospital.

When the car plunged into the river, 20 people—including the driver—were inside, Bhandari continued.

According to the injured, the accident happened at around 7:30 a.m. while the tempo traveler was heading for the Badrinath Dham.
